ARJEN HELPS PEOPLE FIND THEIR SELF-WORTH BY HELPING THEM GET A PERMANENT JOB
It seems like a strange combination. A practical, hands-on engineering contractor whose focus is on social work. But that is how you could describe the work of Arjen Ravesloot (age 55). With the Geja Group, the company he founded more than twenty years ago, he helps ‘unemployable’ men and women find permanent jobs in construction. “Some guys have their first paychecks framed above their beds.”
He started very naively, helping everyone, says Arjen of himself. That first year was a disaster. He was lied to, threatened and robbed. “I especially had to learn not to let myself get disappointed in people. But people with addictions don’t lie to cheat you, but to survive.” Arjen himself had no personal income for a whole year. “All the money went to the boys.”
